Purpose

The syllabus serves as the central document establishing course expectations, responsibilities, and communication standards. It must be fully completed and published in Canvas prior to the start of the course. Faculty and adjuncts are responsible for ensuring all required elements are accurate, up to date, and aligned with institutional policies.

Scope

This policy applies to all faculty and adjuncts teaching at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Accelerated Online.

Policy

All Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Accelerated Online faculty and adjuncts must use the syllabus template provided in the course. This template includes all necessary and relevant policies, including academic integrity expectations, with references to institutional policies on plagiarism and AI usage, faculty communication expectations, assignment feedback and grading expectations, student participation and communication expectations, escalation contacts, procedures for requesting accommodations, and all relevant course policies.

    • Instructor name and professional title.
    • Preferred contact method(s) and response time expectations.
    • Office hours schedule, including day/time and access method.
    • A brief welcome message or teaching philosophy statement.
  2. Course Information
    • Program name.
    • Official course title and course code.
    • Term start and end dates.
    • Credit hours and prerequisites
  3. Communication Standards
    • Faculty response time for student inquiries
    • Grading and feedback turnaround time
    • Clear escalation pathway for unresolved issues
  4. Course Assessments
    • List of major assessments with due dates or schedule references.
    • Explanation of grading policies and criteria.
    • Weighting of assignments, exams, participation, and other graded components.
  5. Participation Expectations
    • Attendance and participation requirements
    • Standards for professional and respectful interaction.
  6. Student Support
    • Accessibility and accommodations statement, including contact information for the Accessibility Office.
    • Information on available academic support services
  7. Policies and Procedures
    • Academic integrity policy and expectations regarding plagiarism, citation, and responsible use of technology.
    • Policies regarding late work, extensions, and make-up assignments.
    • Institutional policies specific to the program or course (as required).
